Students studying abroad at one of our Erasmus+ partner universities do not have to pay fees at their host university and receive a monthly grant. You can find more information on Erasmus funding on the Saarland University International Office website.

Students have the option to request a leave of absence from the Admissions Office for their time abroad if they do not want their number of study semesters to increase during their time away. You can find information on insurance, taking a leave of absence and other important topics on the Saarland University International Office website.
Some of our partner universities offer language classes – both intensive courses before the start of the semester and courses that run throughout the semester. You can find out if the courses are free for Erasmus+ students in the information for each programme. If the course has a tuition fee, you must pay this yourself. Some universities require Erasmus+ students to take language courses.
You can also take advantage of the Online Language Support platform from Erasmus+ to improve your language skills online. More detailed information is available in German here.
