Augmented Reality

"Augmented reality refers to the insertion of visual information or objects into the user's field of vision" (Thomas & Ickerott, 2020, p. V). In other words: In contrast to virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) does not immerse the user completely in a virtual world. Rather, the real world is expanded by computer-generated virtual elements and aspects. These virtual elements can be any kind of information and objects that are embedded in the real environment with the help of camera technology.
