Saarbrücken's proximity to France and Luxembourg means that not only your day-to-day life is shaped by cultural exchange, but also your studies at Saarland University. Nobody should complete their studies without having once gone to the French restaurant Chez Jérôme in the middle of the night at least once.
Those who want to improve their language skills can visit the Language Centre on campus. There is hardly a language that isn't offered and all of the classes are free. There are also plenty of options for sporty types (which are also free). Saarbrücken also has great opportunities for fans of theatre or opera with the Alte Feuerwache theatre and the Staatstheater, which students can visit for free.
The Saarlanders' welcoming nature will also ensure that Germany's smallest state will find a special place in the hearts of all who get to know it. Saarbrücken also has a lively LGBTQIA+ community, which is why I sometimes lovingly call it 'Little Cologne' in reference to Germany's LGBTQ+ hub.
The Master's programme at Saarland University stands out because of the personal, almost one-to-one contact with the professors. Here you won't be in a lecture hall with 100 other students.
Something I appreciate about the university is that you can combine subjects and additional certificates, allowing you to broaden your horizons and take a peek into different disciplines. I can highly recommend studying at Saarland University.
