Team 2020

The 2020 FDI International Arbitration Moot was planned to take place in Seoul, South Korea. However, due to the Coronovirus pandemic, the entire competition was held virtually. The Team Members of the 2020 edition were: 

 

  • Afolabi Adekemi (Nigeria): LLM 2017/2018
  • Bianca Böhme (Germany): LLM 2019/2020
  • Rishab Vohra (India): LLM 2019/2020
  • Solomon Bagshvili (Georgia): LLM 2019/2020

The Team was supervised by Prof. Dr. Marc Bungenberg,Director of the Europa-Institut, Dr. Greg Lourie,Associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen Hamilton LLP, Paris and Andrés Alvarado Garzón, LL.M, Research Associate at Saarland University. 

 

Despite the difficult circumstances, the Team of Saarland University/ Europa-Institut worked intensively during the written and oral phases of the competition from April to November 2020.

 


In October 2020, the Team participated in two Pre-Moots (Prague, Czech Republic and St Petersburg, Russia) which were also held virtually. In addition, the Team was elected the best team of the St. Petersburg Pre-Moot. 

 

From the 4 - 9 November 2020, the global rounds of the competition took place, where the Team obtained the following results: 

 

Saarland University was the 3rd highest ranked Team from the combined oral and written phase.

One of the speakers (Ms. Bianca Böhme) won the Thomas Wälde Award as the best advocate of the competition.
