EighthTeachers’ Day

"Helping learners mediate between cultures”

Wednesday, 14th September 2011

8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Now that "mediation" has replaced translation in the English syllabus at schools, it is time to consider the consequences for both teachers and learners. The 8th Teachers’ Day 2011 offers advice and practical help with questions such as what kind of tasks are helpful, what kind of texts (spoken and written) should be used, what skills need to be developed, and how learners should be assessed.

Teachers’ Day, organized by the English department and the ZfL, is an annual event that aims to bring together people from all three phases of teacher education: students, teacher-trainees, and serving teachers. It is designed to enhance teacher education at Saarland University.
