Dr. Elise Frelin
Dr. Elise Frelin is a postdoctoral researcher in Computational Social Science at SOUNDS and the Chair of Political Science with a focus on European Integration and International Relations at Saarland University.
In August 2026, she completed her doctorate in politics at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Her thesis examines how parties and candidates engage in cross-channel communication strategies during election campaigns on social media. Previously, she studied comparative politics at UCL and economics at the Stockholm School of Economics.
Her research interests include party competition, political communication, and text analysis, often explored through questions of party politics on social media and applications of AI. Methodologically, she is interested in various quantitative methods and text analysis techniques, including topic modelling, word embeddings, and Large Language Models.
