I found the campus very nice and comfortable–in particular the library, where I spent a lot of time. Uni-Kino, which is the university cinema, is one of my favourite memories. There was always an excellent selection of films.
In summer 2019, the uni hosted an open-air cinema event by the lake and played the film Bohemian Rhapsody. The General Student Committee (AStA) were on top of the technical aspects, which meant I got to see the film in high quality, with a relaxed, summer atmosphere and all for a low price.
I think what really sets Saarland University apart is the diversity you see on campus. Students come from many different countries and you can really feel the international flair. You hear English at AC Café, French or Polish at the SULB library and at the Language Centre there are so many languages, you can even learn Russian! I met people from all over Europe there. The diversity is what makes Saarland University the great place that it is.
Degree programme
Bachelor of Arts at the University of Lorraine and Saarland University in Franco-German Studies: Cross-Border Communication and Cooperation, a cooperative study programme offered by Franco-German University (Deutsch-Französische Hochschule).
Period spent at Saarland University
I was enrolled at Saarland University from 2016 to 2019, but because of the unique structure of the Franco-German Studies Bachelor, I spent the first two years in Metz and the final year from 2018 to 2019 in Saarbrücken. I graduated at the end of 2021 after completing an internship at the Trinational Eurodistrict of Basel (Trinationaler Eurodistrict Basel).
