Admission applications and enrolment

Admission application requirements The application process

The application procedure depends on your level of German language proficiency:

If you have the required level of proficiency in German, you can apply via the SIM application portal  within the following application period:

  • early June until 15 July (for winter semester entry)

Note: these programmes only begin in the winter semester.

If you do not have the required level of proficiency in German, you will first need to pass level 2 of the DSH language proficiency exam at Saarland University. You can join the preparatory German language course in either the summer or winter semester. Applications should be submitted at the following times:

  • early June until 15 July (for winter semester entry)
  • early December until 15 January (for summer semester entry)

Once you have obtained the DSH language proficiency certificate, you can apply for winter-semester admission via the SIM application portal. Note: these programmes only begin in the winter semester.

A special quota of five percent of the places on these programmes are reserved for applicants who are not nationals of a member state of the European Union (EU) or a country in the European Economic Area (EEA).
