Digital Forensics

Digital Forensics (Master of Science, Albstadt-Sigmaringen University)

The acquisition, analysis and evaluation of digital traces ('digital evidence') is of central importance in criminal justice: Owing to the digital turn, there is at least some digital evidence in nearly all criminal investigations. Digital Forensics is a science in the triangle between informatics, forensics and law: Experts in the field of digital forensics must pay particular attention to the legal boundaries of their activites. The legal basis for digital forensics is taught in the criminal law and criminal procedure modules of the German-language, part-time Master of Science study program 'Digital Forensics' offered by Albstadt-Sigmaringen University in collaboration with Saarland University and its Chair for Europeanization, Internationalization and Digital Transformation of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
