The year I spent studying in Saarland was the most enriching and enjoyable experience of my life so far. I felt at home right away (once I'd recovered from the shock of how cold it was) and even now, I feel as though I left a piece of myself behind and look forward to the day I can return. Studying at Universität des Saarlandes not only helped improve my German and allowed me to immerse myself in the culture, but most importantly it gave me some of the most amazing friends I know I will have for life.

Living in Waldhaus housing was perfect for me because it was halfway between uni and the city. Being so close to uni meant I could get to and from classes by walking through the beautiful surrounding forest, while being in awe of the wonders of German nature in all its seasons. It also meant I could easily venture into the city for all the delicious food Saabrücken has to offer, followed by a memorable night out. In particular, I cherish the long, warm summer days spent picnicking by the Saar, or just walking along it with friends – and I can't wait to do it again!
