Office Space

Saarland University has set up individual workstations for around thirty doctoral students and postdocs in larger (open-plan) offices in the refurbished existing building as part of its programme to promote young academics. Interdisciplinarity and flexibility are emphasised when allocating the workplaces, so there is no strict separation between subjects and no open-ended allocation. The August-Wilhelm Scheer Graduate Centre thus also serves as a meeting place for young researchers from different disciplines.

The refurbished existing building offers the following infrastructure:

  • Three furnished offices (without IT equipment) with a total of 30 individual workstations (12 on the upper floor and 18 on the ground floor)
  • Meeting room with tables and chairs (size: approx. 4 x 4 metres)
  • Lounge with seating, cloakroom and kitchenette (incl. microwave and dishwasher)
  • WLAN access in all rooms
  • Shower and toilets
