The language assistants programme (Fremdsprachenassistenz, FSA) organized by the Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD) is primarily aimed at students training to become teachers. In exchange for teaching German at an educational institution abroad, language assistants are paid an allowance while also gaining insights into the country’s education system and its specific teaching methods. In recognition of their participation in the programme, students are exempted from modules in subject didactics, language practice and regional studies in accordance with the university-specific equivalence rules. Information is available from the Centre for Teacher Education.
While PAD is responsible for the organization of the language assistants programme, applications are submitted to the Saarland Ministry of Education.
A detailed description of the programme can be found here
General note:
In addition to the certificate of stay abroad, a maximum of 10 CP can be earned (internship module + one sub-module worth 3 CP from the MSK/language practice area). If the CP have already been earned during regular studies, no further CP credits will be awarded for the stay abroad.
