Anatomy & Physiology for Pharmacists
Pharmacy, 3rd semester · every winter semester · part I, 15 double sessions, two per week · examination content of the First State Examination in Pharmacy
The lecture covers the basics of human anatomy and physiology that pharmacists need. We work through the organ systems one by one: structure, function and regulation. As a rule, each double session covers one chapter. Where it fits, short notes on clinical practice and pharmacy link physiology to diseases and drugs, for example local anaesthetics, beta blockers or muscle relaxants. The content follows the questions of the First State Examination. It is based on the textbook "Physiologie des Menschen mit Pathophysiologie" by Brandes, Lang and Schmidt. Alongside the lecture, students can use the Physio-Trainer, a web application developed by our group. It offers practice questions for the chapters and interactive labs, for example on the membrane potential, the action potential and the autonomic nervous system.
