Prof. Dr. Dominik Munz

The Munz group is passionate about any type of inorganic- and organic chemistry, aims at creative and novel approaches for long-standing challenges and tries to contribute to making our world a bit better and happier. More specifically, our current interests relate to bond activation directed at catalysis, optoelectronic materials as well as reactive intermediates as molecular switches. Our synthetic work is always inspired by our computational predictions and typically performed under inert conditions hand-in-hand with advanced spectroscopic techniques.

Bond activation directed at catalysis: We invent coordination compounds of transition- and main group metals with new bonding motifs for catalysis with strong bonds and energy conversion.

Optoelectronic materials: We investigate radicaloid systems and their properties for solar cells and microelectronics.

Reactive intermediates as molecular switches: We explore transient, reactive intermediates as molecular switches in soft and intelligent materials.
