Registry

Registry

The registry is a confidential web-based database under the auspices of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) and conducted by the Institute of Sports and Preventive Medicine in Saarbrücken, Germany. The database records cases of sudden death and sudden cardiac arrest (including cases of sudden cardiac arrest in which the patient survives) occurring during or up to one hour after sporting activity. This database became operative in January 2014. Doctors, relatives, athletes, coaches and other involved persons may report cases via confidential online access leading to a questionnaire regarding the circumstances of the sudden death or sudden cardiac arrest. The personal data of deceased athletes such as names or addresses are not recorded.
