Techniques of scientific work

Prof. Dr. Daniela Braun's module introduces students to scientific work in cultural, social and spatial science disciplines. The exercise "Techniques of scientific work" provides students with basic knowledge of scientific working techniques, from developing a research question to searching for and evaluating information, dealing with sources and scientific presentations to citation methods and writing up and presenting the results of the work. These techniques are practised together in the sessions, with independent contributions by the students playing a decisive role in shaping the exercise. In addition to this, in the "study colloquium" - based on an academic lecture - the students are confronted with topics that are new and unfamiliar to them, which are then discussed together. The development of an independent essay on the lecture topic forms the concrete end product to be created.
