FONTE Endowed Professorship

With the FONTE Endowed Professorship, the Cluster for European Research involves excellent young academics in its Europe-related activities in research and teaching. In addition, they are networked with the university's European stakeholders and given a platform for their further academic career.

The endowed professorship of the FONTE Foundation supports talented young academics in their work in literature and cultural studies. The foundation specifically promotes subjects in the humanities. It cooperates with the Humboldt University Berlin, the Free University Berlin and the Babelsberg Film University.

FONTE Endowed Professorship in the summer semester 2020 and winter semester 2020/21

In the summer semester 2020 and winter semester 2020/21, apl. Prof. Dr. Niklas Bender held the FONTE Endowed Professorship.
Mr Bender studied General and Comparative Literature, Philosophy and Modern German Literature at the Free University of Berlin and at the University of Paris 8. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the topic "Kampf der Paradigmen: Die Literatur zwischen Geschichte, Biologie und Medizin, 1850–1900 (Flaubert, Zola, Fontane)". In 2013 he followed with the paper "Die lachende Kunst. Funktionen des Komischen in der klassischen Moderne".
