They will report on the use of AI and practical experiences in law firms and courts, and will present new AI tools. Oleksandr Kolomiyets and Ulrich Süß from Sinc GmbH, a leading German e-justice provider, will demonstrate the state of the art in the use of AI to carry out legal tasks and offer insights into a possible future for legal work. Judge Rafael Campedelli Andrade from the State Court of the Brazilian state of São Paulo will explain how AI tools are already shaping the work of judges in Brazil today.
The role of these new tools in law degree programmes will also be discussed. Professor Georg Borges will address the question of how AI is changing the training of lawyers, where it is used effectively and where it is not: a topic he is researching together with students, whilst also testing use cases for AI tools in experiments.

Every year, the Summer School attracts young researchers and practitioners from around the world to Saarland University to discuss current topics in the fields of IT Law and Legal Informatics in an interdisciplinary forum with internationally renowned experts.
