Discussion panel at the Saarland State Theatre: 'Yearning for Autocrats'

'Yearning for Autocrats' is the title of a series of talks hosted by the Käte Hamburger Centre CURE and the Saarland State Theatre in cooperation with the public broadcaster SR kultur. The talks will be held across three Sunday matinées on 11 and 25 January and 8 February in the Alte Feuerwache. Admission is free, but advance registration at the theatre box office is required.

For decades, it's been the market that should take care of everything, while people were told they were ultimately responsible for themselves. And now … there's a renewed yearning for a 'strong hand'? For leaders who – no matter what they say or do – can never be quite authoritarian enough? In a series of panel discussions critically engaging the stage productions of Käsch und Naziss, Napoleon, and Richard III, the Käte Hamburger Centre CURE and the Saarland State Theatre will explore the roots of this 'yearning for autocrats'.
