The Centre for Integrative Physiology and Molecular Medicine (CIPMM) on the Homburg campus is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a public ceremony on 1 July at 5.30 p.m. in the lecture hall building of the Faculty of Medicine (Building 35). Scientists from the fields of physiology, biophysics and molecular imaging conduct research at the CIPMM. In the evening, there will be laboratory tours of the research building.

The interested public is warmly welcome. On 2 July, experts will meet at the CIPMM for a scientific symposium.

The public ceremony on 1 July 2025 will begin at 5.30 p.m. in the lecture hall building (Building 35). It will be opened with a musical performance by Paul Gurti (Saar College of Music) on the grand piano. After welcoming remarks by State Secretary David Lindemann, University President Ludger Santen and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Matthias Hannig, Professor Frank Kirchhoff (Molecular Physiology at CIPMM) will give an overview of ‘The CIPMM: Past and Future.’ The keynote speech will be given by Professor Dr. Simone Mayer (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). It is entitled ‘Neurobiology in the Petri dish – opportunities and challenges.’ A reception will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the CIPMM (Building 48), with guided tours of laboratories and research facilities for all guests and interested members of the public.

On 2 July, the research groups at the CIPMM invite you to a scientific symposium in English. The symposium, entitled ‘Integrative Approaches in Physiology and Molecular Medicine,’ will take place in the CIPMM auditorium (Building 48). After a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Frank Kirchhoff, the first session will begin at 9 a.m. with presentations on network and systems neuroscience. Other presentations will deal with topics such as glia-neuron interactions, calcium signals and cytotoxicity.

Registration is required for the symposium. Details can be found in the programme flyer.
