Käte Hamburger Centre CURE welcomes 2025/2026 cohort of fellows

On 15 October, the Käte Hamburger Centre CURE will welcome its 2025/2026 cohort of fellows with a festive reception at Saarland University’s Innovation Center. Minister President of Saarland Anke Rehlinger and President of Saarland University Professor Ludger Santen will open the evening with words of welcome and then join CURE’s Executive Committee in greeting the incoming fellows, who this year are from Argentina, Belgium, Cameroon, France, Nigeria, Slovenia, Taiwan, Turkey and Germany.

This year’s annual lecture entitled ‘Comment réparer l’irréparable?’ (‘Repairing the irreparable? Culture and spoliation’) will be delivered by Professor Gisèle Sapiro, research director at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and professor of sociology at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris, affiliated with the Centre de sociologie européenne. After the lecture, the new CURE fellows will present their research in German, English and French. During their 12-month stay in Saarbrücken, the new CURE fellows will pursue individual research projects related to cultural practices of reparation. The evening will conclude with a reception, offering a chance to meet and talk with the fellows and the CURE team. The event will start at 6 p.m.
