Breadth and depth: research projects at Saarland University

From artificial intelligence and novel drug compounds to quantum computing, and from cultures of remembrance to debates about historical memory and political interpretations of history in Europe – the research projects being conducted at Saarland University span a very wide range of topics and methodologies. Many are carried out in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary collaborative formats, including junior research groups, Collaborative Research Centres and Research Training Groups. Funding comes from numerous sources including the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the European Commission, the European Research Council and other funding bodies. In addition, several major research initiatives receive support from the Saarland Transformation Fund.
