Change of subject area

Generally, it is possible to change your enrolment. The procedure differs depending on whether you would like to change to an admission-restricted or a non-restricted degree programme. Please refer to academic programmes to find out which courses these are. If you receive BAföG, you should enquire in advance at the office for educational funding (Amt für Ausbildungsförderung) about the effects of a change of subject on your BAföG.

Admission-restricted degree programmes

If you want to change to a degree programme with restricted admission, you must first apply in time. If you are offered a place in the admission procedure, a change of subject is possible. If you have an offer of admission in the SIM Student Portal, accept it and this will take you to the enrolment form. You submit your application for enrolment via the enrolment form, then follow the further steps (incl. possible uploads of documents).

Non-restricted degree programmes

When changing to an admission-free degree programme or to an admission-free subject within a multiple degree programme, you first apply for enrolment in the SIM portal. You will then be asked how exactly the change of subject is applied for, e.g. a complete exchange of a degree programme or an addition of a subject or degree programme.
